Prada and the Tourist
Exploration of contemporary desire, displacement, and the porous boundaries.
“Prada and the Tourist” is part of an ongoing exploration of contemporary desire, displacement, and the porous boundaries between consumer and consumed. It asks us to consider what remains when layers are removed, and what we are willing to bare in order to hold onto what we believe defines us.

A Painterly Abstraction
This image explores the entanglement of perceived luxury, identity, and commodification. The Prada bag functions as talisman and emblem: a portable symbol of status and security in an uncertain world. For the traveler, it represents continuity and self-worth amid displacement. Yet in the broader theater of consumerism, both the bag and the woman’s body operate as products on display—the model herself a mobile showcase, her sexual confidence a form of currency in the economy of the gaze.
Blending elements of street photography, fine art nude, and conceptual critique, the work interrogates how late-capitalist culture turns personal aspiration into spectacle. The tourist’s pride in her single luxury item mirrors larger societal patterns: we cling to brands as anchors of identity while our bodies and selves are constantly packaged, reflected, and consumed. The nighttime setting heightens the tension—warm interior light spilling onto bare skin, public space collapsing into private vulnerability, reflection refusing to separate self from spectacle.
